If you are giving a phone call while driving, you may know that the risk of having an accident is multiplied by four, minimum. This is the reason why many countries have a law that prohibit the use of any devices that require the use of hands to give or to receive a phone call. The only way to reduce risks and not to violate law is to use a device such as a bluetooth kit. In addition to the regular devices that work with cables, the Bluetooth wireless technology is offering us new and more secure possibilities.

Since I discovered 4 years ago the pleasure to travel in my motorhome I have been able to observe many people, like me, who owe multifunction motorhomes.

Many of them, I think the majority, spend a lot of their free time in taking care of their motorhome, and they always add amendements to their vehicle (the fact of being retired permits to have more free time to be dedicated to the vehicle).

But I have to reckon, and it is the reason of this post, that not only many drivers spend a part of their energy in improving their vehicle (not always useful), but they also spend all their time in a camping or at a gathering point in order to check and compare vehicles instead of making the most of the activities of their travel. Sometimes they form small groups and just speak about the same topic.

Without doubt, I am sure that they like their way of life and that it is a way of fulfilling their dreams. My point is not to criticize their attitude and the way they see this hobby, but sometimes, it is my opinion, the fact of living in my motorhome when and where I want is the added value that permits to make the most of the sea, the mountains, cycling, fishing, skying, outdoor activities, and touristic visits that, in Spain specially for its interesting history, we can encounter each time.

Specially for people like me, of a certain age, we want to take advantage of our freedom and to be able to travel with our motorhome. We have to maintain our physical mobility and our efforts in order to say to our number of years that we are still in shape and that we will not live waiting for “the end”.

1. Just begin the tasks that you know you can do, if you have the required materials, fixing parts that you may need, and be aware of your capacity and limits.

Have a complete tool box: the tools have to be quality tools otherwise a nice and creative work may be transformed into a chore.

Have appropriate cleaning products for the task you begin, and be sure the cleaning of one thing will not damage other things. For example some solvants may damage wall paintings, a furniture piece or even the floor.

Protect your hands with gloves if you are not used to manipulate tools, especially when you use corrosive products. Use masks and protection glasses if there is a risk of toxic fumes or eye lesion risks.

Planify your work before you begin it, so the other steps will be more appropriate. Remember that if you assemble entirely a piece of furniture and that you forget a part, you will have to dismantle everything and assemble everything once again.

Take into account the day and hour chosen to work. On Sundays your neighbors may want to sleep on mornings, and they may be disturbed by hammer blows of the noice of your drill.

Be aware of the task/activity repercussions on your family. If you are painting, it is clear that you would not be able to sleep in your bedroom that day.

Have old clothes for these activities. The experience of this point shows that people begin a task thinking that it will be easy and quick and that it is useless to change clothes, but there is always a painting drop or a grease stain to damage your new clothes.

Get used to calculate how much it would have cost to have it made by a specialist and consider your work as a saving.

Do not think that the amendements and fixings are a chore: take it as something creative and you may discover a new hobby.

Once again I want to talk about home organization.I assure you that I make many efforts to keep my house and my time as organized as I can: shopping, washing, domestic cleaning work, this blog, the deducation of muy son who wants to know everything, musique lessons, to keep the accounts, the associations I am part of, the days out to the country or to the beach. They are all things that, even if I try to keep everything organized, that make me lose my time.

As soon as I impose yself and my husband few rules, things work a lot better. Instead of revising the English to be given in the course, we take the “English breakfast”, which is not to eat eggs and bacon for breakfast, but speak in English while we prepare and take the breakfast. We have established this point as something normal and it’s very entertaining and informative.

Few times a week we fold the clean laundry, iron and organize everything. To do it daily is too boring. We pass the vacuum cleaner once a week, and while one passes the vacuum cleaner, the other dishes. Then, finally, we collect the clothes thrown on the ground and put them in the machine (this can seem surprising, but that’s what costs me the biggest effort).

I’m not going to bed without cleaning the kitchen, because otherwise I start badly the day after. But before bed, we read together for a moment with my husband, one part of a book each, for an hour, a book which pleases us both.

What I do not foresee is the weekly menus, because it is impossible in our case as we have wonderful grandparents that often come with some bowls full of delicious stews.

I have a calendar where I note the appointment with the doctor, with the banks, the inevitable meetings. In addition we organize a weekly “meeting” when we organize the papers and drawings that are accumulated in the office.

Some time ago I mentioned the web page of Fly Lady, it has been very helpful. I looked at other pages, some in Spanish, which give tips, ideas and tips to better organize our homes and our daily lives.
